Reading the Bible Day 50

Hello friends and happy Monday! Did you lose power last night? How about that snow?! Too early for me. What's never too early for me is scripture, and I hope you are just as eager as me to continue reading. We finish the book of Numbers in 2 days! Can you believe it. We are nearly at the final book in the Torah (Deuteronomy) before moving on to the incredible stories of Joshua, David, Elijah and the prophets. But, first, Numbers. May you feel the presence of God surround you and envelope you as you read :)

Scripture to Read

Questions to Consider

  1. What does this teach me about God?

  2. What does this teach me about humanity?

  3. What about the psalm speaks to me? What troubles me?

  4. How can I apply this to my daily living?

  5. Would Jesus say amen to this?

Prayer:

Due the war driven narrative of these chapters with their battles and plundering I thought it would be appropriate to pray the prayer of St. Francis "Make Me an Instrument of Peace"

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
