Hi all - I apologize for falling behind again so soon from the last lapse. The purchase of our home and all the stuff that I've had to do to get that set up and the WAY WAY too many wedding's I've had to officiate this month have really put a hamper on my ability to pump these out. Numbers carries on bringing with it some more laws but also some really solid narrative sections that help give us some context for where they are and how long it's been since they were led from Egypt. I'm curious which section sticks out to you the most - and why. As much as I hope my thoughts help you I promise you that you're thoughts help me as well. God bless and enjoy the reading!

Questions to Consider
What do these sections of scripture teach me about God?
What do these sections of scripture teach me about humanity?
What is speaking to me in this section? Why do I think that is?
What inspires me? What troubles me?
- My Thoughts -
This section of scripture contains the Aaronic blessing which was the inspiration for the wildly popular song "The Blessing" by Elevation Worship. I couldn't help but smile thinking about the song as I read the lyrics from the Bible - and truthfully, I thought of all of you who are impacted by that song whenever we sing it in church as either a prayer response or the full version. Maybe listening to it again will be just what you need today. I've included for you at the bottom of my thoughts.
Secondly, Chapter 13 contains the scouting report of the land of Caanan where the spies get scared at the sight of the land and encourage Moses to turn back. I laugh with this story everytime I get to because it's so so so human. These are people that have been led by God for over a year, been in God's presence over a year, and they are finally going to the place that God has promised to take them (safely) and as soon as they encourage a little resistance they pack up and skip town. My gosh is my faith not the same way. I've been led by God now for 27 years and I have lived a life full of blessings but even the smallest of snags that come my way have been enough to falter my faith enough for me to doubt God, reject God, nearly quit being a pastor for God. The scouting report is a lesson for all of us that God is bigger than our fears and failures. What's scaring you right now? When faced with fear we can either run from God or keep following God. I think Numbers gives you a clue to what is the right move. ;)
Prayer - The Aaronic Blessing
I encourage you to either listen to the song above or mutter these words under your breath over and over until you believe them to be truth for yourself. They are beautiful and bring me to chills everytime.
‘May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
25 May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
26 May the Lord show you his favor
and give you his peace.’
