Hi friends! We continue our study on the book of Proverbs and as before I invite you to write down any that stick out to you as well as list of ones that you disagree with and meditate on why you like / dislike the selected ones. I know for myself I liked "The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices." and "Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without wise advice." I'm wicked guilty of being a self inflicted one man army so I really appreciate how the text spoke to me in that second one.

Questions to Consider
What does this teach me about God?
What does this teach me about humanity?
What do I find wise even today? What do I find outdated?
Prayer
Our prayer today is inspired by hymn 159 in our United Methodist Hymnal - Lift High the Cross. Super fitting for the beginning of lent! :D (ps - make sure to set reminders for all the lent services at www.chagrinfallsumc.org/lent)
I invite you to hum, sing, or recite the words of the hymn as your prayer today.
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name.
1 Come, Christians, follow this triumphant sign.
The hosts of God in unity combine. [Refrain]
2 Each newborn servant of the Crucified
bears on the brow the seal of him who died. [Refrain]
3 O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree,
as thou hast promised, draw the world to thee. [Refrain]
4 So shall our song of triumph ever be: Praise to the Crucified for victory! [Refrain]
