Hello! Today you will encounter the story of Judah and Tamar and continue on the unfortunate events of Joseph as he finds himself in prison. The question worth asking is - why did the people that organized the canon insert this story of Judah and Tamar in between Joseph's story? What kind of lesson are they are trying to get across? What kind of foreshadowing or juxtaposition is happening? What does it teach us? I would love to discuss the Bible with you as you journey through it with me. Questions to Consider
Always first meditate on the questions that arise as you read as I believe that these are moments when God is whispering to you and directing your thoughts. Then, consider the following four questions.
What does the scripture tell me about God?
What does the scripture tell me about humankind?
What does the scripture tell me about creation?
What does the scripture tell me about the relationship between the three?
Prayer
Lord, I confess that there have been times when I have lied or been deceitful to someone that I trust and someone that has trusted me. I repent of my actions and see with the help of your Word how damaging such a thing can be. Wash me of my sin, make me clean, so that I can be a more faithful follower of your Word. Amen.
