Reading the Bible Day 11

Hello church family! Thank for you joining us today for this reading, meditation, and discussion on Genesis 35-37. This section wraps up Jacob's story and introduces us to Joseph who will take us through the end of Genesis. Joseph's story is well-known thanks to Hollywood, but there is so much more that they leave out that teaches us a great deal about human nature, about God, about creation, and the relationship between them all. If you would like to be in conversation with me about this please feel free to leave a comment below or privately message me by email at ngliha@chagrinfallsumc.org

Questions to Consider

I'm changing the format for how I do this - I still want you to first consider what comes to mind but instead of inserting my own questions I want you to consider the following 4 questions for this post and every post henceforth. I encourage you to have a sheet of paper for each question and fill out as many things as you can about each.

  1. What does this set of scripture say about God?

  2. What does this set of scripture say about humankind?

  3. What does this set of scripture say about creation?

  4. What does this set of scripture say about the relationship between the 3?

These questions allow for those across the aisle of different interpretations to be in conversation with one another, and ultimately, answer the ultimate question of "what is the purpose of the Bible." I look forward to your feedback on how these questions change how you read things.

Discuss these questions and more in either the comments or by sharing your thoughts on the group page at https://www.chagrinfallsumc.org/group/home-group/discussion

Prayer:

God of grand beauty in creation, we give you thanks this day. Thank you for helping me learn more about you, more about people, more about your creation, and how you move between all of these actively calling everything back to you. I surrender this day to your will trusting it will lead me to the people and places you have called me to go. Amen.
